Choose a target size or set width and quality yourself, and download a smaller JPG in seconds. Your photo never leaves your phone: it is resized with the browser’s own canvas, so it is private and works even on slow internet.

How to use

  1. Tap Choose photo.
  2. Pick a target size (or set max width and quality).
  3. Tap Compress.
  4. Check the preview and size, then Download.

Guide

How it works

The photo is drawn onto an HTML canvas at the new width, then saved as JPEG. For a target size, the tool tries lower quality step by step, and smaller widths if needed, until the file fits under the limit. Because everything happens on your device, there is no upload, no waiting for a server and no copy left online.

Sizes that forms usually ask for

Many government and exam portals ask for a photograph of 20–50 KB and a signature of 10–20 KB, often with fixed pixel sizes such as 200 × 230. Read the notification carefully: if it states pixels, set Max width accordingly. For FastBuySale listings, 800–1200 px wide at 100–200 KB looks sharp and loads quickly on mobile data.

Getting the best quality

Start from the original camera photo, not a WhatsApp-forwarded copy, which is already compressed. Crop away empty background before compressing so more detail goes into your face or product. Quality 0.7–0.8 is usually invisible to the eye; below 0.5 you may see blocky edges. Transparent PNGs become JPG with a white background. Very large photos (over about 40 megapixels) may be slow on older phones.

Checklist before you upload

1) Read the portal’s limit: file size in KB, pixel size and format. 2) Crop the photo so the face or document fills the frame. 3) Choose the target size just under the limit – for example 48 KB for a 50 KB limit – because some portals count 1 KB as 1,000 bytes. 4) Check the preview: text must stay readable and the face sharp. 5) Rename the file if the portal asks for a specific name. 6) Keep the original; compress again from it rather than compressing an already small copy.
