Guide

How the estimate works

Phones lose value fastest in the first year, then more slowly. We apply a brand-wise first-year drop – Apple 20%, Samsung and OnePlus 30%, Xiaomi/Redmi, Vivo, Oppo and Realme 35%, other brands 40% – spread evenly across the first twelve months. After that each extra year removes another 12% (Apple), 15% (Samsung, OnePlus) or 18–20% (others). The result is multiplied by your condition: Like new ×1.00, Good ×0.90, Fair ×0.75, Damaged ×0.55. Having the original box and bill adds 5%. The price never drops below 5% of what you paid, and we show a ±10% range because real buyers bargain.

Tips to get a better price

Clean the phone, charge it fully and take bright photos of all sides. Mention battery health, storage, colour and whether the phone was ever repaired. Factory-reset it only after the buyer has paid. Phones with a valid warranty, a bill and the charger usually sell faster and for 5–10% more. Avoid listing far above the range – listings priced inside the estimate get more chats on FastBuySale.

When the estimate can be wrong

Prices jump around when a new model launches, during festival sales, or when a model becomes rare. Flagship phones with high storage, and phones in high demand in your city, can sell above the range; phones with a weak battery, screen burn-in or a non-original display sell below it. Use the calculator as a starting point, then compare similar listings on FastBuySale before you fix your final price.

Worked examples

An iPhone bought for ₹79,900, now 24 months old, in good condition with box and bill: 79,900 × 0.80 (first year) × 0.88 (second year) × 0.90 (good) × 1.05 (box) ≈ ₹53,156, so the range shown is about ₹47,840 – ₹58,471. A Redmi phone bought for ₹15,000, 12 months old, good condition, no box: 15,000 × 0.65 × 0.90 = ₹8,775, range ₹7,898 – ₹9,653. A ₹30,000 Samsung, 6 months old, fair condition, no box: 30,000 × 0.85 × 0.75 ≈ ₹19,125, range ₹17,212 – ₹21,038. These are examples of the formula, not market quotes.
