Petrol cost ₹102.12 a litre in Delhi and diesel ₹95.2 on 4 November 2026, according to the Petroleum Planning & Analysis Cell (PPAC) metro price table, shown daily on FastBuySale's petrol and diesel rates page. Delhi has the lowest petrol price of the four metros in the PPAC table, mainly because the Delhi government's VAT on petrol is lower than Maharashtra's, West Bengal's or Tamil Nadu's.

Worked example for Delhi

Delhi to Agra by the Yamuna Expressway is about 460 km there and back. A petrol car that does 15 km per litre uses 30.7 litres, which costs ₹3,132 at ₹102.12. Split 4 ways it is ₹783 each. The same distance in a diesel car with the same mileage would cost ₹2,919. Tolls are extra.

Prices in Noida, Gurugram and Ghaziabad are set by Uttar Pradesh and Haryana, not Delhi, so filling up just across the border can cost a little more or less. Enter the price you actually pay at the pump if you fill up outside Delhi.

Delhi also has one of India's largest CNG networks, and many autos, taxis and buses run on it. CNG is sold by the kilogram, so the calculator's per-litre field does not fit it directly: enter your car's km per kg as the economy and the price per kg as the fuel price to get the same trip cost.

For a daily commute, run a 25 km round trip at your real mileage and multiply the per-km cost by about 22 working days. That gives a monthly fuel figure you can compare with a Delhi Metro pass or an app cab.

Real-world mileage in Delhi traffic is often 20 to 30 percent below the ARAI figure on the brochure, especially in winter smog when roads are congested. A full-tank-to-full-tank check gives the most honest number to type in.
